Sirena Sync blends elements of Raqs Sharqi and Fusion Belly Dance to create a vocabulary of movement that groups of dancers can use to improvise together. No dance is ever the same because the possibilities are endless! Through physical cues and patterns, dancers follow a leader (who changes throughout the dance) to create magic on stage.
In this Level 2 series, students will learn the foundational vocabulary of the dance (the L1 movements), and then move on to more complex L2 patterns. Dancers will learn to lead, follow, change formations, and add props such as finger cymbals and swords. We will also learn Middle Eastern drum rhythms and how to dance to them, as well as how to play to them with our finger cymbals.
What sets Sirena Sync apart from other improvisational group styles? While it shares many similarities, this particular format focuses on Sadie’s go to combos and stylization. So let’s get dancing!
